My Creative Experiences

1)How did this experience assist you in identifying your goals and developing areas of growth?

Joining the KIS SNHS was an amazing decision as I got learn from a lot of good seniors on working with technology and research. Being part of the SNHS motivates me to contribute to scientific research and has helped me identify my goal to be a researcher in Quantum Computing.

2) What challenges did you have in this experience? Which skills did you develop?

One of the biggest challenges was working with large groups as work would by slow and sluggish. However, over time, I got used to this and started learning the ability to give direction to people which, in a way, ultimately led me to be appointed as the president of the SNHS due to my leadership skills and vision, skills that I learnt from observing my seniors during my junior year.

3) What did you learn by initiating your CAS experience/project that you can use again?

I learnt that all great things require effort and initiative. Starting something from scratch, like the Robotics club at SNHS, takes immense amount of time and effort from team leaders and I think this patience and ability to take initiative can help me kickstart other projects in my future school life and career.

4)How did you show commitment and perseverance? In what ways did you gain skills?

I showed commitment and perseverance by consistently dedicating time to the SNHS, even when managing multiple responsibilities. The process of organizing events, leading projects, and ensuring that all members were actively participating required a lot of dedication. I developed time management skills and the ability to stay focused on long-term goals, even when immediate results weren’t visible. This experience taught me how to balance my workload effectively while maintaining a high level of commitment to my responsibilities.

5)In what ways did you gain skills of working collaboratively?**

I gained collaborative skills by working closely with peers on various SNHS projects. Communication was key, and I learned how to effectively share ideas, listen to others, and compromise when necessary. By leading group discussions and delegating tasks, I improved my ability to work within a team and bring out the best in each member. This experience also highlighted the importance of respecting diverse perspectives and leveraging the strengths of each team member to achieve common goals.

6)Which issues of global significance are you engaged with in making decisions and taking actions?

In my role within SNHS, I engaged with issues like sustainability and the ethical implications of scientific research. For instance, while working on projects related to environmental conservation, I had to consider the global impact of our research and initiatives. This experience made me more aware of how scientific advancements can be both beneficial and harmful, depending on how they are applied, and it emphasized the importance of making informed, ethical decisions in the field of science.

7) How are you recognizing and considering the ethics of choices and actions in this experience?

In SNHS, I was constantly faced with the need to consider the ethical implications of our work, whether in research or in the projects we chose to undertake. I learned to weigh the potential outcomes of our actions, ensuring that our efforts were not only scientifically sound but also ethically responsible. This included ensuring that our research did not cause harm, being transparent about our findings, and considering the long-term effects of our actions on the community and the environment..

This experience helped me understand my ambition to pursue diplomacy and international relations. It revealed areas where I could enhance my public speaking and research skills.

One major challenge was defending complex positions in debates with experienced peers. This helped me develop my critical thinking and persuasive communication skills.

Organizing preparation meetings and training sessions taught me project management and leadership. I can apply these skills in leading other group initiatives and public forums.

Preparing for debates required thorough research and consistent practice, demonstrating my dedication. I gained skills in maintaining composure under pressure and refining my argumentation.

Working with a diverse team to draft resolutions and negotiate stances improved my teamwork and collaboration skills. I learned to navigate differences and build consensus.

MUN required deep engagement with global issues such as climate change, human rights, and international security. It fostered a sense of responsibility to contribute to real-world solutions.

Representing a country ethically, even when I disagreed with its policies, underscored the importance of objective representation. It highlighted the ethical complexity in diplomacy..

Being part of this project solidified my goal of using technology for environmental conservation. It also showed me that I needed to strengthen my leadership and technical problem-solving skills.
